During my last visit to Israel I had the chance to spend a few days at the beaches of Tel Aviv. Moreover only 2 days in Jerusalem which is like a “Mecka” for photographs. At least when it concerns finding interesting people in the streets.

Here are only a few of these ones that I like the most.

First one is a chassidic man walking by me at the Mahene Yehuda Shuk (= Market) in Jerusalem.

Second one is a praying modern man by the Wailing Wall (aka Kotel). Notice the refections from his cool sunglasses onto the praying book.

Third one is a man all relaxed watching the scene below which is just by the Wailing Wall. I am extremely happy with the end result of this one.

Enjoy!

Råbjerg Mile is a migrating coastal dune between Skagen and Frederikshavn, Denmark. It is the largest moving dune in Northern Europe with an area of around 1 km² (0.4 mi²) and a height of 40 m (130 ft). The dune contains a total of 4 million m³ of sand. The wind moves it in a north-easterly direction up to 18 m a year. The dune leaves a low, moist layer of sand behind it, trailing back westwards towards Skagerrak, where the Mile originally formed more than 300 years ago. Over 250,000 people visit the dune every year.

This is one of the most important religious places for jews.

I have created a collage of 3 different photographs from this special place to symbolize how the religion can be effecting people of today.

The first one “Young and Old”, but both with the same strong belief.

The second one “Modern and Old”, all 3 religious and ortodox chassidic men in deep prayers while 2 of them seated on “modern” and simple plastic chairs.

Third on again with the same symbolic value “Modern and Old”. The man on the left wearing a Harley-Davidson jacket while the other ortodox chassidic man again in deep prayers.

There are lots of these “findings” in Jerusalem, Israel. A city which is very complex, deep and still so challenging. I love the city in spite of all the conflicts. So many religious fates have their place in this historic city. Today a modern sociaty is trying to find its way in spite of old traditions and religious fate.

From Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Wall

The Western Wall, sometimes referred to as the Wailing Wall or simply the Kotel (lit. Wall; Ashkenazic pronunciation: Kosel), and as al-Buraaq Wall in Arabic, is an important Jewish religious site located in the Old City of Jerusalem. Just over half the wall, including its 17 courses located below street level, dates from the end of the Second Temple period, being constructed around 19 BCE by Herod the Great. The remaining layers were added from the 7th century onwards.

There are small scribbled words on papers stuck into the wall itself containing personal prayers by the people visiting. Quite something really!
